A visitor to Fruit Forum who gardens in Cambridgeshire has sent in the following question.

I have an orchard consisting of 8 Lord Lamborne apples, 2 pears and a quince. I think they were planted about 50 years ago. All the apple trees are suffering with a die-off of the tips, as shown in the above  picture. Does this look like blossom wilt which has been suggested? There are a lot of infected shoots on each tree. As you know we have had a very wet spring and summer and apparently there are a lot of fungal infections in fruit trees this year. We are intending to prune out the dead shoots back to healthy stems in the next couple of weeks.

Does anyone have any other ideas or suggestions?
